Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Infertility Therapist in Miami, FL
MEET DR. MARISA PERERA, PHD
Dr. Marisa Perera is the founder of Natal Counseling and an infertility therapist in Miami, FL. She is one of the few reproductive psychologists in the country with this level of focused family building expertise and is an infertility therapist in Miami, FL. She provides specialized infertility and postpartum therapy in Miami for women navigating miscarriage, pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional realities of family building and parenthood.
She built Natal Counseling so women could finally exhale with support that truly understands the emotional weight of family building. The waiting. The hard decisions. The losses. The constant mental load of what’s next. With Dr. Marisa Perera, you don’t have to explain why it feels so hard or hold it all together alone. Here, you’re met with understanding that lets you breathe and begin to feel like yourself again.
Why Choose a Reproductive Psychologist and Infertility Therapist in Miami for Your Family-Building Journey
You’ve been getting through the days. Functioning. Managing. Holding it all together. But inside, you know this isn’t how you want to live. You’re ready for more than survival mode. You’re ready to feel like yourself again.
That’s what Natal Counseling was built for. We specialize exclusively in the emotional realities of family building, so you can stop explaining your experiences and start receiving support that actually fits your life. Every therapist on our team is a reproductive psychologist, which means we understand the complexities of infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood on both a psychological and physiological level.
This means you’re working with experts who:
Understand the complex interplay between your body, hormones, and nervous system during family building.
Recognize how grief, loss, and the uncertainty of infertility or high-risk pregnancy affect mood, decision-making, and daily life.
Offer targeted interventions that help you regulate your nervous system, manage stress, and rebuild trust in yourself.
When you choose Natal Counseling, you’re choosing more than an infertility therapist in Miami—you’re choosing a team that truly gets it from the inside out.

PERSONAL STORY
As a young student, I noticed a glaring gap that didn’t sit right with me: much of what we call “health care” overlooks the experiences of people with female reproductive organs and those from minority backgrounds. I wanted to be a part of changing that. I pursued specialized training and became one of the few reproductive psychologists in the country.
Living through miscarriage, the anxiety of trying to conceive, high-risk pregnancy, and postpartum moods during my own family building journey reinforced one truth for me: you shouldn’t have to navigate this without support that actually gets both the psychological and physiological sides of this journey.
APPROACH
My approach blends proven, evidence-based methods with a deep understanding of reproductive and perinatal mental health.
This includes mind-body and nervous system regulation, cognitive and behavioral radical acceptance approaches, attachment-focused work, and trauma-informed care.
Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method as your pregnancy, postpartum, or infertility therapist in Miami, I tailor our work to your specific experience, needs, and goals.
This allows us to address not just what you’re feeling, but why it’s happening — and how to create meaningful, lasting change.
LESS FORMALLY
Outside of my work, I love a good book club, am a lifelong learner who feels most at peace near the water, and am a proud vegan — though I am still figuring out how to tame my sweet tooth without success. The combination of my professional expertise and lived experience allows me to connect deeply with the women I get to support, helping them feel understood, grounded, and finally able to exhale.

Who We Support
We work with women navigating:
Infertility, IVF, or uncertain paths to pregnancy
Miscarriage and unimaginable loss
Pregnancy after loss or high-risk pregnancy
Postpartum changes that feel heavier or more complex than expected
Early parenthood and the emotional and mental load that comes with it
Hormonal or medical conditions impacting mood and identity
Many women we work with are used to feeling capable and independent. But even the strongest coping strategies can falter during these life transitions. That’s when our support makes the difference — helping you feel grounded, steady, and clear again.
There comes a point where pushing through stops working. You try to stay positive, productive, and in control. Instead, you feel more anxious, more reactive, more exhausted, and less sure of yourself and your decisions. That’s not failure. It’s your system asking for a different kind of support.
Because what you’re going through isn’t just emotional, it’s physiological. Stress from infertility, loss, pregnancy, and postpartum lives in your nervous system. And when your nervous system is overloaded, it can feel like:
Your reactions don’t match the moment
You’re calm one minute and spiraling the next
Your mind won’t turn off, especially at night
Even small decisions start to feel heavy and high-stakes
You can understand what’s happening… and still find yourself stuck in those patterns. This is why insight alone isn’t enough. In our work together, we focus on both helping you make sense of what’s happening AND helping your system actually shift.
So this doesn’t feel like just talking about your week. It feels like relief, movement, real change. You’re not just venting. With a pregnancy, postpartum, and infertility therapist in Miami, you’re learning how to:
Regulate your nervous system in real time
Make decisions without spiraling
Rebuild trust in yourself
Feel more steady in your body and mind
We address both the psychological and physiological aspects of infertility, pregnancy, miscarriage, postpartum, and early parenthood — because real, lasting change happens when both are acknowledged.
