Compassionate Therapist for Miscarriage, Infertility, and Postpartum in Miami, FL
MEET DR. AVELINA PADIN, PHD
Dr. Avelina Padin is a licensed clinical health psychologist and part of the Natal Counseling team, a practice specializing exclusively in reproductive and perinatal mental health. As a reproductive psychologist, she provides compassionate, evidence-based support for women navigating miscarriage, infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum transitions. Whether you’re facing the uncertainty of fertility treatment, coping with pregnancy or infant loss, or adjusting to the emotional ups and downs of early parenthood, Dr. Avelina meets you where you are and supports your journey toward healing and resilience.
Why Choose a Reproductive Psychologist for Your Family-Building Journey
You’ve been getting through the days. Functioning. Managing. Holding it all together. But inside, you know this isn’t how you want to live. You’re ready for more than survival mode. You’re ready to feel like yourself again.
Dr. Perera built Natal Counseling so that support like this could actually exist. The team led by Dr. Perera specializes exclusively in the emotional realities of family building, so you can stop explaining your experiences and start receiving support that actually fits your life. Every therapist on our team is a reproductive psychologist, which means we understand the complexities of infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood on both a psychological and physiological level.
This means you’re working with experts who:
Understand the complex interplay between your body, hormones, and nervous system during family building.
Recognize how grief, loss, and the uncertainty of infertility or high-risk pregnancy affect mood, decision-making, and daily life.
Offer targeted interventions that help you regulate your nervous system, manage stress, and rebuild trust in yourself.
When you work with Dr. Avelina, you're not just getting a therapist who means well, you are getting a reproductive psychologist who truly gets it from the inside out.

Dr. Avelina’s own journey to parenthood was anything but simple. She experienced pregnancy complications, an unexpected preterm birth, and a brief NICU stay. These experiences added a new layer of personal passion to her professional passion for this work. She is honored to hold space for her clients’ stories to support them in their growth and healing.

Education & Professional Background
I have been passionate about women’s mental health since working with my very first client during graduate school, a young woman navigating pregnancy and everything that came with it – from childbirth anxiety to relationship challenges to the transition to parenthood. Working with clients over the years, I’ve come to understand that so many women are holding stories of their challenges with fertility, pregnancy, loss, childbirth, and parenting that often go unheard.
I was born and raised in Ohio. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from The Ohio State University and completed residency and fellowship training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
